Stay Safe Ltd

Stay Safe Ltd is owned and operated by Andy Corson.

Andy has enjoyed a long career in the tourism sector spanning 30 years. With a variety roles based around the world he has been able to hone his skills through a wide range of applications in both professional and recreational activities.

Getting fed up with health and safety consultants telling business owners they were all going to jail if they didn’t purchase their new folders in2015, he thought he would find out the facts for himself and enrolled in a Grad.Dip.OHS at Massey in 2015, completing in 2017.

Whilst there may not be so many ‘cowboys’ touting their folders today, there is still a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding. Andy’s commitment is to ensure that business owners are clear on their obligations and that they have the right systems in place to ensure workers, owners and others are protected from harm.

With a long career communicating with people who don’t speak English as a first language, one of Andy’s skills is plain, simple, language. Legislation speak and health and safety jargon can be confusing and leave some business owners feeling overwhelmed. It needn’t! It’s really pretty simple!

What Tourism Operators Are Saying

Feeling completely overwhelmed and confused, I reached out to Andy to ask for his expert advice on how we could improve our health and safety procedures. Andy took me through a step by step process to help me to understand how to identify risks and introduce a safety management system that works for our small owner/operator tourism business. After a few hours spent with Andy, I was able to implement a simple, workable process and create a template which is now an important part of the daily operation of the business. Spending time with Andy is definitely one of the best investments we have made for our business!

Running a resort 3 hours form the main island of Fiji, having an effective safety management system is critical to our business. Our European wholesalers have high expectations around safety management. Andy helped us develop our Safety System as well as develop SOP’s for everything from using a weedtrimmer to fitting life jackets for snorkelling trips. We are satisfied we now have a really robust system which meets international standards as well as our own health and safety legislation requirements. Andy is incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that was stress-free and easy to understand.

“As one of New Zealand’s leading Tourism Operators, health and safety is a critical element of our operation. Despite undertaking a number of external audits, I felt our safety system could be better. Andy took the time to really dissect it and gave us some really valuable feedback. We re-developed our SMP based on Andy’s feedback and we now have something which we feel is exceptional.”
